Photonic hypercrystals —the artificial optical media that combines the properties of photonic crystals and hyperbolic metamaterials— can support propagation of electrostatic (or, more accurately, quasi-electrostatic) waves. In order to obtain the fundamental properties of electrostatic waves in such media, we study the dispersion relation, transmittance and reflectance behaviors of these waves in one-dimensional photonic hypercrystals, here metallic nanowire-based structures with two different periods. The results may be useful for electrodynamics of photonic hypercrystals.
