In a recent article, Khan and Hassan [J. Appl. Phys. 115, 204304 (2014)] investigated the dispersion properties of electrostatic electron plasma oscillations on the surface of single-walled carbon nanotubes by considering the exchange-correlation potential. They showed that the surface plasmon energies are blue-shifted by the exchange-correlation effects. Here, we derive the correct form of the dispersion relation and show that the energies of plasmonic modes are red-shifted by the exchange-correlation effects. Published by AIP Publishing.
