Recent increased enthusiasm towards mechanization
and automation of production systems have resulted in
interactions between maintenance management and statistical
process control (SPC) as the main two major components of
production systems. Consequently, different integrated models
of maintenance and SPC have been developed to coordinate the
decisions of these two components. In this paper, two
maintenance policies are investigated for coordination of
decisions of maintenance and SPC. A generic integrated
mathematical model is developed and with simple
modifications, the model can be employed to minimize the
expected cost of the process unit time under each policy.
Sensitivity analyses, comparative studies, and numerical
examples are also provided.
