In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, one of the most fascinating and promising developments is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into autonomous vehicles (AVs). The intersection of AI and transportation has the potential to revolutionize the way we commute, impacting everything from safety to convenience. Imagine sitting in a car without worrying about steering, braking, or accelerating—the promise of AVs powered by AI. These vehicles are not just about convenience; they hold the potential to reshape transportation systems, making them safer, more efficient, and environment-friendly. As technology advances, the concept of AVs is gaining momentum. These self driving cars can sense their environment and navigate without human input. One of the key technologies driving the development of AVs is AI. AI can enhance a vehicle’s decision-making abilities, perception, and learning capabilities, helping to make them more efficient than their human-driven counterparts. AI technology, these vehicles can analyze real-time data from sensors, cameras, and sources to make decisions about steering, braking, accelerating, and avoiding obstacles [1,2]. During the past years, this subject has attracted more attention than before due to the progress made in other AI-related areas. Therefore, it seems necessary to consider and survey the recently published papers to increase the understanding of the subject. Therefore, in the following sections, the most recent papers have been assessed.
