Abstract

Carbon dioxide is one of the main causes of the global warming. Therefore, identifying new approaches to remove Carbon dioxide is of particular importance. Solvent-based capture by amines in the post-combustion process is one of the most promising methods that is economically feasible and easily implemented in industrial environments. Recently, the use of alcoholic solvents for the capture of CO2 after combustion has been growing, drastically. These solvents have a good potential in reducing energy consumption and are available at a lower cost. This research examines the effect of inlet CO2 concentration 5-20 (vol.%) and gas flow rate 100-175 (ml/min) on CO2 removal efficiency by triethylenetetramine-ethanol biphasic solvent in a T-shaped microreactor. The obtained results state that the increase of both variables, decreases the efficiency of CO2 removal system. By increasing the gas flow rate, the gas molecules move with a higher velocity in the microreactor and the residence time decreases along the microreactor.
