Abstract

In this paper, a common basic structure composed of a boost converter and a modified switched capacitor for step-up converters is presented, capable of integration with various voltage-boosting techniques. Using this structure, two converters with different numbers of components were designed and analyzed to evaluate their quantitative and qualitative parameters. The combination of the basic structure and a coupled inductor has caused a significant enhancement of voltage gain. Also, the core of the coupled inductor can be shared with additional boosting techniques like the proposed converters. Both presented converters are single core, which display advantages such as low voltage stress on semiconductors, continuity of input current, and a common ground between the load and the source. In addition, the converters with close properties to the proposed ones have been compared to demonstrate the excellence of the presented structure from different terms of view including voltage gain, component count, and voltage stress. To investigate the quality performance and consistency between theoretical predictions and experimental results a 250W prototype was prepared.
