Abstract

Digitalization in the energy sector enabled various developments and advancements that are important to support ongoing energy transitions. Implementation of smart technologies in engineering can considerably improve systems, processes, or single components. Effective integration of renewable energy technologies is very important to secure the desired increase and efficient operation of energy systems. Digitalization in that aspect can play an important role, especially in the improvement of the efficiency of electricity networks which will have a favourable effect on the economic aspect and harmful emissions. Energy planning is also an exciting area where digitalization can provide vital support in forecasting and demand side management. Finally, there are also clear benefits of smart technologies for policy makers to support accurate decisions that will help to manage energy transition in a more effective and targeted way.
